Last night's show at 50 Mason was a blast and we got to share our new songs 'Mama's Blues' and 'Dishes' with a whole new crowd of folks on romantic dates who tended to enjoy (if maybe not appreciate the irony of) our short set of anti-love love songs. Our pal Clarisa Morales even caught us in the act!
Tomorrow we're off to the Great White North. It's all about camping and music at this year's Farmfest VIII. (https://www.facebook.com/events/514309378699376/) Come on up to Victoria and see us eh? If the woods aren't your style we'll be featuring at Mz Carolyn Mark's Hootenanny at Logan's Pub on Sunday.
Ritual Pinot Noir from Casablanca Valley 2012: still damn good please see last blog. A fine investment. An excellent bottle of wine, however not the supreme ruler of the ceiling.
We also had Cindy's contribution Hidden Cellars 2011 Mendocino County Petit Sirah purchased for five measly dollars which is a much better investment than the five dollars worth of Slim Jim's and Little Debbie snack cakes that I made. it's a saucy little wench and has a little more depth than I would expect and actually quite good.
The ruler of the evening is the 1999 Puelles Rioja: a 15 year old courtesy of K&L Wines - dark purple lots of personality many layers lot going on here awesome. we're going to finish the bottle.
In closing: the ritual was eclipsed- I'm getting $60 together to buy a case of hidden cellars and another 40 bucks to buy more to more bottles of Puelles - which is also incredible. Go forth and get hammered.
Ritual 2012 Pinot Noir, Casablanca Valley, Chili:
Fuck Shebang! This is the best $16.99 I have ever spent. Amazing. There is nothing wrong. There is everything right. Just buy it.
Hey there hepcats!
Tonight Feral is going to be back at the awesome Sidequest Gallery in Oakland for some good old fashioned folkpunk americana with LA's awesome Flip Cassidy. Show is right at 8pm so come and have some fun with us!
THEN! On Sept 17 Feral is going to be the opening band at 50 Mason Social House in SF and again, going on right at 8pm sharp! So come on over, get some drinks with us, raise a glass to Emchy's recent birthday.
Lastly - on Sept 20 Feral is going to be rocking our own unique brand of americana in Canada! Does that make it Canadacana? We'll find out at this years FarmFest in Victoria. We'll also be the featured act at Mz Carolyn Mark's Hootenanny at Logan's Pub on Sunday - so put your friendly face on and say howdy.
Bottle One: Shebang!
Not as good as last years sixth cuvée - last years was more fruit forward and a little more complex I think this needs some more time in the bottle. Seventh cuvée is more acidic and the tannins are not as developed definitely more time in the bottle
Bottle Two: Chateau Smith cab has a nice nose very approachable perhaps not as chewy as I would prefer very well-developed tannins extremely drinkable would go very well with redmeat. I don't hate it.
the musings, rants, and ravings of an Oakland-based americana band.
